Robotic Navigation & Responses / Coding III

We highly recommend purchasing the Lego Education Spike Prime Set – Robotics Kit; as the LEGO’s SPIKE Prime has the latest sensors. Kids build robotic vehicles equipped with motors and multiple sensors and control their creations with Scratch and Python programming to complete challenges and kids can register for our robotic competitive teams.

STEM-based lessons include:

  • Building robotics and coding to build autonomous vehicles, completing individual and group challenges such as mazes, navigating through a city, completing tasks throughout the city, and using sensors in various ways as triggers to identify objects and perform various tasks.
  • Use of Gear Ratio to increase speed or create more torque when completing challenges
  • Building robotic arms for various tasks and coding sensors to react to certain objects through colour, touch, and distance and using a combination of these variables in their code to solve challenges.
  • We move from Scratch to more Python coding which will be introduced so your child understands how to code it using robotic sensors.

Multiple vehicle types will be build for different purposes and to carry out different tasks. It is a requirement that students complete the final group project together.

About This Program

Preparing your child for the future of AI (Artificial Intelligence), Robotics and Automation – it will be highly important for their future academics and problem-solving will undoubtedly improve their future success. We align STEM concepts we teach with the Ontario Elementary and Middle School Curriculum but we enrich this learning using real-world problems, enhancing your child’s math, logical problem solving, physics knowledge, collaboration, leadership and presentation skills.

Using The Latest Technology Is Important

We highly recommend purchasing the Lego Education Spike Prime Set – Robotics Kit; as the LEGO’s SPIKE Prime has the latest sensors but we do have some students use want to use the LEGO’s EV3 Mindstorm robots.  Both are used by our students to learn structured design, frameworks and Scratch programming / coding.  Kids build robotic vehicles equipped with motors and multiple sensors and control their creations with Scratch programming to complete challenges and kids can register for our robotic competitive teams.

STEM-based lessons include:

  • Building robotics and coding to build autonomous vehicles, completing individual and group challenges such as mazes, navigating through a city, completing tasks throughout the city, and using sensors in various ways as triggers to identify objects and perform various tasks.

What is the class structure?

Your child is assigned their own laptop, no need to bring one but you can choose to.  And they work at their own pace designing, building & coding through guided instruction, sometimes completing challenges independently and at other times collaboratively within small groups. Classes are 90 minutes and include:

    • 20 Min. – Robotics & Coding Program Challenge Lesson (STEM-Based)
    • 40 Min. – Robotic Building
    • 20 Min. – Coding Build
    • 10 – 15 Min. – Challenge Completion / Testing

All students build different robotics that serve to focus on completing a different challenge at every class.

Class Length: 1.5 Hrs. (90 Minutes)

Course Completion: 28 to 32 Weeks.
